April Gymnast of the Month Kelsey
When you are talking to a person whose favorite color is lime green and who loves sushi you know you've encountered an unusual lady. Kelsey is just such a lady with a sense of humor that sometimes takes two or three minutes before you realize that she's said or done something profoundly funny. Gymnastics has played a major role in Kelsey's world for the past seven years. She's progressed steadily upward to her current level 6 since the age of five except for a two year stay at level six due to a stress fracture of her right foot. The Beam is her favorite event "I like the challenge of being both athletic and graceful at the same time". "To leap around, flip and spin, yet remain upright on that narrow piece of wood can make you happy with a good score or miserable if you're laying on the mat on your back". She hasn't spent much time on the mat at meets this year while performing the beam. In fact at the Nittany Meet she won 1st place in her age group. Kelsey has quite a collection of an American Classic - the Buffalo - both in stuffed animal form and figurines. She also collects gymnastic T-Shirts - she has at least a hundred or more. At home Kelsey has a constant companion and occasional bed buddy - it's Zoey - her two year old mixed yellow female Labrador Retriever. "Zoey's there, tail wagging, whether you have a great day or bad; she loves me no matter what". Kelsey is also an internet whiz and is familiar with web sites, Google, favorites, email, and other things. She uses the internet just for her homework and for informational purposes however - never for chat groups or talking to people she doesn't know. "That's a stupid way to get into trouble and I don't see why anyone would want to do it". Kelsey has a joking, funny side and a serious side. I could see she wasn't joking about the internet stuff. Although she started out life with a head full of dark hair, she has a beautiful blonde mane now. But please, no blonde jokes, she knows tons of them she says. Everyone say Hi to Kelsey our April Gymnast of the Month! |
