February Gymnast of the Month

Angela

Two and half years ago, while practicing cheerleading and tumbling, Angela stopped and told herself……..”this is dumb!; I love the tumbling, and flipping, but the yelling, stomping, and stupid grinning is driving me bonkers!!!!". Angela immediately checked into gymnastics and has been a much happier athlete as a result. She is now a 10 year old level 4 gymnast. She has a 13 year old brother that she says is one of her biggest supporters.

Keeping with her love of tumbling, floor is her favorite event. She’s scored well in the other events, beam and bars, but she’s at her happiest jumping, flipping, doing a round-off, splitting, etc. Give her a floor, some music and come back in a few days and she probably wouldn’t know you were gone.

In school Science is her favorite subject. “I have a really curious mind; I constantly ask how things work”. “I drive my Mom and Dad nuts sometimes, but I’m not happy until I can figure out how something works”.

Another thing Angela has is a love of animals – she owns 2 dogs (Cocoa and Misty), 1 cat (Butterscotch), 1 bunny (Midnight), and 1 hamster (Speedy).

Pizza is Angela’s favorite food. Not just any old pizzas mind you…, but it has to be Metro’s Pepperoni. “I’ve tried Pizza from other places, but nobody can beat them. Their pepperoni pizza puts all the others to shame!!"

Although she is now just a level 4, she wants to “stick” with gymnastics as far as she can. Level 6, 7, Novice Optional, College, ???, Who knows. Regarding a career however, Angela wants to combine her love of animals with her future work plans. “I love animals and I can’t think of anything better than to ease their pain and take care of their health. They are man’s greatest friend".
