The FUN Begins!
Judge Tia Tedder gives instruction to the coaches and gathered gymnasts at the start of the Judging Clinic.
That Sunday the Gym was full of anticipation. All the practice of the last few months; the hours spent learning routines, the hopes that this year would be the year when it all came together – the 7.8’s became 8.6’s, the 8.4’s “morphed” into 9.5’s. To help hone those skills and get an impartial judging of those abilities, GCH once again held a “judging clinic” this past Sunday. Jen, Missy, Jessie, Shannon and Dan gathered the teams, gave them their last minute instructions and motivation, met with well known judge Tia Tedder, and as Dan would say with his Cajun “patois” “Laissez le bon temps rouler”!! Some of our athletes showed why they are considered to be the “Best of the Best”; they scores were fantastic and they showed that they were definitely ready for another grueling meet season. Still others, although showing flashes of brilliance, occasionally had lapses of concentration, showing they needed to put in some more training time on equipment or with Jessie’s TOPS Program.
A great beam routine by a Hershey Aerial gets some solid marks from Tia Tedder. Big smiles all around!
“Superwoman” Jen gives instructions on the proper form of a flying leap on her floor routine.
Shannon scribbles furiously, Dan listens intently and Maya (with perfect pigtails), receives her scores after her floor routine performed to a saucy rendition of “Why Do Fools Fall in Love”.
“OK Girls, I want 20 quad stretches, 10 back walk-overs, 10 beam handstands, and 15 dismounts; then come back in five minutes.....Jessie is Tough!
Some level 7’s get instructions from Judge Marcy Litz. Coach Shannon and Dan take notes and offer moral support.
