Melissa Deroba
Melissa (Missy) Deroba started gymnastics at the age of 8 in her hometown of Sunbury, PA. She stayed with gymnastics until she was a 16 yr old Level 7 - that's when she started coaching. In 1997, Missy graduated from Millersville University and began coaching full time at GCH and she's been hooked on this gymnastics club ever since. "At our gym, I have the opportunity to work with all levels of competitive gymnasts, and also every level of preschool and recreational classes. I really enjoy the variety this gives me each day." Kathryn ?, Kathleen ?, Catherine ?, .....”Keep trying Doug”, you’ll get it eventually....it’s just good and simple ....Katie”. That was the start of the conversation with our “newest” coach Katie Peters. If that last name sounds familiar, it should......there is some serious DNA patterning going on between GCH Founder and Owner Lynn Peters and Katie....ugh....like...mother and daughter!! I quickly found out that Katie is as friendly, positive and unassuming as her mom. Katie’s credentials in the field of Sports Medicine/Athletic Training are World Class. After graduating Hershey, HS in 2001, she went on to complete her BA in Sports Medicine /Athletic Training from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and recently (May 2008) received her Masters in Rehabilitative Sciences from the University of Florida. She is a Certified Exercise Specialist and is qualified to both train elite athletes and in the rehabilitation of sports injuries. In addition to the outstanding academic achievements, she has completed and coached here at GCH through her High School and early college years. She recently relocated here from Gainesville, Florida with her two yellow Labs – Roxie and Brutus and a Golden Retriever named Aspen. We are indeed fortunate that “Katie” has returned “home” to GCH and are certain that she will make an immediate impact to the conditioning, health, and safety of GCH’s training programs. Welcome Home Katie!!!!!!
