October Gymnast of the Month

Chloe

When we talk about difficulties to overcome in our everyday lives we usually think about things such as broken TV’s, leaky plumbing, etc.

Chloe comes from South Africa, a World that is far different such as everyone having steel front doors, and steel bars on their windows to try and stop the constant burglaries. If worrying about burglars breaking in and stealing your stuff weren’t bad enough, you also have to worry about bands of monkeys who will squeeze through any small unprotected opening and eat all the food in your home! They did just that to her Grandmother!

“The weather is the biggest difference – it never gets cold there” (in South Africa). She had never seen snow until she came to America. Chloe came to Pennsylvania when she was 4 and immediately fell in love with gymnastics. The Gymnastics Center of Hershey has been her second home for five years now and is a major focus in her life. She has excelled in the sport, both as a level 4 and as a level 5. Her Overall win at last year’s Funny Bunny meet will be remembered by everyone who watched that day.

This year promises to be another super year for Chloe. She has worked on her floor and beam routines to max her scoring potential. Her practice and effort is paying off – her back handsprings and tucks are fabulous! Floor is her favorite because “you have to learn a whole sequence of events to music and use your entire body – similar to dance”.

Chloe has both an older sister and a brand new one (10 months old). As an active 4^th grader, she loves Math. She thinks that being a Teacher is life’s highest calling as she wants to meet and help people achieve their potential.

Her 4 footed buddies include a boy Cocker Spaniel named CoCo and a long haired girl kitty named KiKi.

Chloe has overcome a lot in the last few years - new culture, new country, new friends. We are very lucky to have gained such a wonderful athlete for a teammate and to have gained such a wonderful young lady as a friend! Everyone say hello to Chloe, our October Gymnast of the Month!
